Renowned for the esteemed Norfolk Black, regarded as the UK’s oldest turkey breed, our county has a longstanding tradition of raising exceptional turkeys, a heritage that Godwick Hall Farm proudly maintains.
“A Godwick Turkey is a true free-range treat, raised with immense care and dedication,” says Director Robert Garner. “We take our responsibility to the birds and our customers very seriously, consistently producing a product that anyone would be proud to serve on their table.”
Godwick Turkeys was founded by Robert’s parents, initially supplying great-tasting turkeys to a few friends. They’ve earned a stellar reputation for outstanding quality and flavour since then, with Robert and his wife Charlotte expanding from rearing a handful of turkeys to a flock of around 4,500.
As proud members of the Traditional Farmfresh Turkey Association, the committed couple follows stringent welfare guidelines. The turkeys arrive on the farm as day-old chicks each June and are carefully nurtured from that moment onwards. When they reach around six weeks of age, they are granted 24-hour access to clover-rich paddocks, where they have ample freedom to roam.
Celebrated for their rich flavour and succulent texture, Godwick Turkeys surpass those found on supermarket shelves. “The turkeys sold in most shops are usually no older than 16 weeks, but we rear our birds naturally to full maturity over a period of around 27 weeks. This allows them to develop a natural fat covering, resulting in much juicier meat,” Robert explains. “Supermarket turkeys also tend to be wet plucked and gas flushed, whereas our Godwick turkeys are dry plucked and matured in a temperature-controlled environment. This enhances both the taste and texture, resulting in moist and tender meat.”
All Godwick Turkeys are freshly prepared and can be collected from the farm gate or posted to your address. Delivered turkeys are sent out by courier in the business’ bespoke temperature-controlled insulated boxes along with fresh herbs, a giblet bag, a cooking timer and an informative recipe leaflet.
“Following strong demand for our premium products, we’ve expanded our offering this season with the Godwick Bundle Deal,” Robert adds. “This is available in two sizes, with either a 5kg or 8kg Godwick free-range turkey accompanied by a pack of Godwick pork sausages, Godwick chipolatas, Godwick pigs in blankets, Godwick sausage meat and a 2kg Green Gammon. Every pack is prepared onsite by our dedicated butchers and will fulfil all your needs for a fabulous festive meal.”
