The Norfolk Symphony Orchestra will be presenting the third concert of their 49th Season.
The concert, which takes place at the Corn Exchange Kings Lynn, will include the tone poem, In the Steppes of Central Asia, composed by Borodin in 1880. It’s first performance was in St.Petersburg under the direction of Rimsky-Korsakov. Our performance will be directed by conductor Steve Bingham.
Also on the programme are two symphonies. The first is Symphony No.7 by Sibelius, originally performed in Stockholm in 1924 as a ‘Symphonic fantasie’. Sibelius later renamed it as a ‘Symphony in one movement’.
The final work in the programme is the magnificent Symphony No.5 by Tchaikovsky. Despite Tchaikovsky coming to the conclusion that the work was a failure, it has become one if the most popular works in the Symphonic repertoire.
Join the Norfolk Symphony Orchestra as they continue to delight audiences with their critically acclaimed performances and a desire to bring live music to Norfolk.
The orchestra will once again be giving away 100 free tickets to under 18s throughout this season. It is hugely encouraging for the orchestra to find that there are so many enthusiastic supporters for classical music amongst the young people of the county. For details on this offer please call the box office on 01553 7764864.
Come along and enjoy live music at its best, performed by the Norfolk Symphony Orchestra.
