Women's Institute Centenary Exhibition

Discover Downham Heritage Centre is excited to be hosting an exhibition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Downham WI, a group which has played a key part in shaping the town's history, community and character over the years. The exhibition will open on Thursday 20^th March 2025 and will showcase the remarkable history of Women's Institute's and the incredible journey of Downham WI. Displays will include historic scrapbooks containing striking photographs, newspaper cuttings and written accounts compiled by the local WI, with the oldest dating to 1965. There will also be crafts, pictures, beautiful displays and handwritten cards from current members detailing why they joined and what the WI means to them. It promises to be a unique and special showcase, bringing generations of inspiration, innovation and friendship to life in vivid detail.
